Combining a traditional New York-style hook with Halligan-style forks on the opposite end, the New York Claw provides firefighters with multiple forcible entry, overhaul, and utility functions in a single tool.

The Halligan-style forks feature thin profiles and sharp tips that help firefighters access tight spaces during prying and forcing operations. The crotch of the forks can also be used to operate gas meter valves. When additional leverage is needed during forcible entry, the forks can be positioned in a door or opening to provide increased mechanical advantage while prying.
