The Kussmaul Over Voltage Relay provides continuous battery system voltage monitoring to help protect fire apparatus, ambulances, rescue vehicles, command vehicles, and other specialty vehicle electrical systems from potentially damaging overvoltage conditions. Designed to detect excessive charging voltage, the relay can activate a connected alarm or warning circuit to alert operators of conditions that could lead to battery overcharging, overheating, or boil-over.

The Over Voltage Relay continuously monitors battery voltage and is factory set to activate when voltage reaches 17 volts. When an overvoltage condition is detected, the internal relay operates to activate the connected warning or control circuit. The relay resets when system voltage drops to 14 volts. The activation and reset voltage thresholds can be adjusted for specific vehicle electrical system requirements. Heavy-duty 30-amp relay contacts with normally open and normally closed connections provide flexibility for integrating alarms, indicators, and other electrical control circuits.
