Kussmaul NAV-PAC
The Kussmaul NAV-PAC is a solid-state power protection and backup system designed to provide clean, stable, and uninterrupted DC power to sensitive onboard electronic equipment. Designed for fire apparatus, ambulances, rescue vehicles, command vehicles, marine vessels, and other specialty vehicle applications, the NAV-PAC helps protect MDTs, GPS systems, chart plotters, computers, and other electronics from voltage spikes, power surges, electrical noise, momentary power interruptions, and abrupt voltage changes that can cause equipment crashes or memory loss.
The NAV-PAC combines voltage stabilization, electrical noise filtering, voltage spike protection, internal battery backup, timed disconnect, and low-voltage battery protection in one compact system. Connected electronics remain online with an internal 5 Ah sealed rechargeable lead-acid battery that is maintained by the vehicle's electrical system. When low input voltage or a loss of vehicle power is detected, the internal battery automatically provides supplemental power to keep connected equipment operating.
The internal backup battery can supply 8 amps for 15 minutes, 12 amps for 8 minutes, or 15 amps for 2 minutes. An integrated timer automatically disconnects the output approximately 15 minutes after loss of input power, helping prevent excessive battery discharge. The NAV-PAC also filters electrical interference from audio frequencies through 200 MHz and provides protection against voltage spikes rated up to 100 joules and 4,000 amps maximum. An optional configuration with a front-panel power switch is available for applications requiring manual power control.
