The Kussmaul Auto Charge 12 HO is a high-output, fully automatic battery charger designed to charge and maintain a single 12-volt battery bank in fire apparatus, rescue vehicles, ambulances, and other emergency or specialty vehicles. Delivering a 20-amp charging output, the charger automatically regulates its output to maintain the connected battery at the proper float voltage and ready for vehicle operation.

A patented Sample & Hold sensing circuit checks the battery voltage 120 times per second to determine actual battery voltage and compensate for voltage drop caused by current flowing through the charging wires. This precise voltage sensing helps provide rapid battery recovery while maintaining the correct float voltage and preventing overcharging.

Automatic current limiting protects the charger from overload conditions when charging deeply discharged batteries or supplying large parasitic electrical loads. A front-panel ammeter provides convenient monitoring of charger output current, while an optional vehicle-mounted remote indicator allows charging status to be monitored from another location on the apparatus.

Built with a heavy-duty aluminum enclosure, protective front panel plate, and wire strain relief, the Auto Charge 12 HO is designed to withstand the shock and vibration encountered in demanding vehicle-mounted installations.
